The SouthEast Primary HealthCare Network takes a systematic approach to supporting general practices to implement the National Immunisation Handbook (9th edition) including the Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule, and National Immunisation Program and the General Practice Immunisation Incentives scheme (GPII).
Objectives
The immunisation program has two main objectives:
- To support general practice to implement the National Immunisation Program in accordance with the Australian Immunisation Handbook, 9th Edition 2008 and current Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule
- To support practices to reach and maintain a coverage rate of greater than 90% childhood immunisation according to GPII statistics.

RotaTeq Administration - Back to Basics
- information courtesy of Amanda Curran, Brisbane South Division
- Do NOT administer dose 3 after end of 32nd week
- Check baby has had dose 1 and that it was given at least 4 weeks ago
- The upper age limit for receipt of dose 1 is 12.9 weeks, that is up to anniversary of 13th week of age
- Dose 2 should be given by 28 weeks to allow minimum interval of 4 weeks prior to receipt of dose 3
- Upper age limit for dose 3 is 32.9 weeks, that is by anniversary of the 33rd week
Given the importance of timeliness for rotavirus vaccination, CSL in collaboration with divisions developed a range of resources to highlight to parents the dosage times for this vaccine. Practices can order these resources by completing the Order Form and faxing it to CSL.
