The Type 2 Diabetes Risk Evaluation
This MBS item enables GPs to review patients aged 40 to 49 years (inclusive) who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes and instigate early interventions to assist in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.
Eligible patients can download and, in conjunction with their GP, complete the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool (AUSDRISK) which can be downloaded here
Patients with a ‘high’ (12+) score are eligible for a Type 2 Diabetes Risk Evaluation by their GP. This evaluation allows a GP to address the underlying factors contributing to the high risk score, provide lifestyle modification advice and consider referral to Lighten Up, an accredited Lifestyle Modification Program (LMP).
