Public Health Alert - Enquiries relating to concern regarding radiation arising from nuclear incidents in Japan
Queensland Health has issued the following advice alerting general practitioners regarding enquiries relating to concerns of radiation from nuclear incidents in Japan. There is no risk to people currently living in Australia due to this incident. General Practitioners are advised that:
- there is no risk to people currently living in Australia;
- persons who have been resident in Japan for the duration of this incident may be concerned about the possibility of being exposed due to this incident in Japan. Although unlikely, there is a small chance of exposure to radiation, at very low levels, for people in the Fukushima area and an isolated area near Onagawa prior to noon on the 15 March 2011.

Improving Primary Health Care for All Australians
The Department of Health and Ageing has released a new booklet Improving Primary Health Care for All Australians.
The Government is committed to improving Australia's health care system so that all Australians can access high quality services that meet their needs and the needs of their family.
Primary health care is the part of the health system which Australians use the most. It is delivered in the community, outside of hospitals and covers a wide range of providers such as general practitioners, partice nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, community health workers and pharmacits.
This booklet explains why primary health care is important; why it needs to be improved and what the changes will mean. It also provides further details on Medicare Locals, and their central role in improving the primary health care system.
