SouthEast Primary HealthCare Network presents
“Managing Mental Health and Substance Use in General Practice”
As part of the Can-Do Initiative this program will provide general practice with specific knowledge, skills and confidence to undertake the whole “Three Step Mental Health Process” focusing on:
- the combined issues of alcohol and drug use, and the associated mental health concerns;
- multidisciplinary team approaches, coordination of care, assessment, treatment and referral for service users who present with mental health and substance use conditions.
When will the Program Run? The program is anticipated to commence late October/Early November 2009, and as positions are limited, applicants will be selected on a “first in” basis.
What level of Educational delivery does the training meet? The program meets Level One Mental Health Skills Training, and contributes towards Continuing Education Points
Who will benefit from this education? GP’s and practice staff, Psychologists, Practice Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals who are involved in either the treatment, identification of related issues, or referral pathways.
